Edge of the Universe

Off late I have been getting this momentary flash of vision, and I get it just like that...out of the blue, for no reason at all...when my mind drifts a little bit from the work at hand! The vision is me sitting in the dark on a cliff sort of a thing and looking below at a dazzling universe...stars, galaxies and those kind of things. I was baffled over what it meant and why I saw it...and it was not even in actual dreams but I saw it during waking hours!! (for all those who pull my leg for day dreaming here's your moment, enjoy!;)) But I know what it means now. And this is how revelation struck-

I was taking a flight back from L.A. to Chicago a few days back...had a window seat...I love watching topography of the land below from a plane and relating it to which part of the country it actually may be. We took off close to sunset from the west coast and back into the mainland...as the night drew closer we moved from the plains to the rocky mountains and to the central areas and finally the Midwest. As we moved from west to east there were so many cities/towns passing by beneath us in slow motion...like small constellations in a night sky below me......so many worlds, yet each so small and not so far apart when seen from 35,000 ft.

And that's when I realised the meaning of my oft-seen vision! It was about sitting back and getting perspective, seeing the big picture...not in the context of a universe but your own life. In today's hectic life when so many things run through our mind with so many different things happening around us at a fast pace and at the same time....its easy to lose to track of our priorities and see what we actually love and what holds meaning to us....I believe being close to these basic things is what it means to be real...and I guess that's what my sub conscious mind was trying to tell me....look at the big picture....what is really important?

wow! this post seems to evoke a lot of deep thinking... i wrote a poem once about how we see millions above, and they see millions below... (mankind and stars)
