My first one!

Hello everybody!

Here is my first attempt at blogging, something that I wanted to do for a while now. At a course I recently took at school, the professor commented that on an average humans actually use only about 5 % of their brain! And that is including the scientists, innovators etc. Imagine what would happen if everyone started using only a 5% more? Well.....I don't know about the five, but I will try to use only an infinitesemally more to keep blogging every now and then :) Watch this space for some of my periodic insightful and some not-so-insightful ruminations.

well ... its not that i would want to contradict ur first post.. but seriously...a long long time ago.. i had read somewhere that this percentage usage of the brain that a human can handle or manage is a 7 odd %... and not a 5

but then yeah.. that was a long time ago.. and may be over time technology and quality of life has deprecated this usage resulting in a 2% dipp...

Nevertheless, a decent thought to start off with..
but was still wondering if we actually needed the whole brain to work off.. coz then the other percentages work over the human senses and the other processs of the other organs in the body... mainly the things that keep us alive and kicking... :)

Using an extra bit of the brain would mean sharing resources with another process...which would mean worsened performances...(read abnormalities...no pun intended)

so i guess we have reached an optimum usage pattern over time.. and its best left there..

Just a thought...

wow all this while i had never read your response! well i am not sure if its a 5 or a 7, its ju what the prof told me...n being a good indian student i believed him! anyway i definitely think more usage would be better...i mean einstein had just a little bigger brain than us dumb mortals n he dicovered relativity...and he actually thought his understanding of the universe was child like...so i seriously think the only thing keeping us from knowing more about our universe etc. is our limited usage of the brain! however i liked your take on the optimization part...though optimization for the better usage over time wud be better for humanity in general:)
